♦ Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) Newborn Hearing Screening Program case study
The Newborn Hearing Screening Program promotes universal audiologic assessment to ensure that deaf and hard-of-hearing infants receive suitable support as soon as possible after discovery. In 2009, ASTHO engaged Smith & Lehmann Consulting to study the coordination among federal, state and nongovernmental agencies around this program. Among other project tasks, Smith & Lehmann interviewed 30 lead officials to assess efficacy of communication, leadership, information sharing, and collaboration among agency partners nationwide.
